By either creating an account on the Service or using the Real Recommendations Tools on a Publisher Site you accept the terms contained in this Privacy Policy, which describes how and when we collect, use and share your information. When this policy mentions "we" or "us" it refers to the Real Recommendations Terms defined in the Terms of Service and have the same meaning where used in this Privacy Policy.

Irrespective of which country you live in you authorize us to transfer, store, and use your information in the United Kingdom and any other country where we operate. In some of these countries the privacy and data protection laws and rules regarding when government authorities may access data may vary from those in the country where you live.

Data collection and use

We collect registration data and log data. Registration data is collected when you visit our site and sign up as a Publisher via our site and only includes personal information if you go through the Publisher sign up process to create an Account. Log data is collected when you interact with Real Recommendations Tools on a Publisher Site.

We collect and process this information in order to help us provide the Service to Publishers and Users. Our lawful basis for processing personal data is legitimate interests, as detailed in our Service Documentation, and on grounds that such processing is fair and lawful in accordance with Data Protection Act 1998 and General Data Protection Regulations.

Registration data

In order to download and use the Plugin Code and the Service as a Publisher you must create an Account and provide us with personally identifiable information consisting of your name, email address and telephone number. This information is not shared with any third parties. In choosing to register with us you affirm that you are 13 years of age or older.

We also collect non-personally identifiable information when you visit our site via the use of cookies. This helps us keep track of Publisher login details and which pages visitors are viewing on our site.

Log data

We receive this information when you interact with Real Recommendations Tools, even if you have not created an Account. For example, when you visit a Publisher Site, application, or service that includes Real Recommendations Tools we may receive information about you. Log data may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, search terms, or cookie information. In any areas of the world where any parts of this information is considered personally identifiable we then treat it as such. We keep log data as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.


We track how you interact with links across the Service by redirecting click throughs. We do this to help improve the Service and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular link was clicked.

When you use the Service hosted on a Publisher Site and/or where you click through to a third party website via the Service then please be aware that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for those policies.


The Service uses cookies and similar technologies to collect additional service usage data and to improve the Service. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer device's hard disk. Cookies do not identify you as an individual user but they do contain information that identifies your computer to us, which helps us optimise your experience of the Service.

We may use session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with the Service, to monitor aggregate usage by users and web traffic routing on the Service and to customize and improve the Service.

Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you exit your web browser. Persistent cookies are more permanent and are stored and remain on your computer until they are deleted. Persistent cookies delete themselves after a certain period of time but are renewed each time you visit the website. We do not store sensitive information such as account details in "persistent" cookies and cookies do not contain enough information to identify you.

Third parties

We may receive information about you from third parties, such as other Users and Real Recommendations clients and ad partners. For example, other users may share or disclose information about you when they send a recommendation to you. Publishers may share information with us such as a browser cookie ID, mobile device ID, or cryptographic hash of a common account identifier (such as an email address), as well as demographic or interest data and content viewed or actions taken on a website or app.

Information sharing and disclosure

We do not disclose your personal information except in the limited circumstances described below.

User consent or direction

We may share or disclose your private personal information with your consent or at your direction.

Law and harm

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Privacy Policy, we may preserve or disclose your private personal information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or, to protect our or our Users' rights or property. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defences or objections that you may have to a third party's, including a government's, request to disclose your information.

Business transfers and affiliates

In the event that we are involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your private personal information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. This Privacy Policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.

Non-personal information

We may share or disclose your non-personal information with Publishers and other data partners for purposes of analytics.

Storage of your personal data

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. This information may be transferred to and stored at a location outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). By submitting your personal data you agree to this transfer and storing. At all times we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

The internet is not a 100% secure environment and therefore although we will do our best to protect your personal data we cannot guarantee the security of your data. Once we have received your personal data we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

If you have not logged in to your Account for a period of 14 consecutive months we may consider it as being inactive and we may delete it, together with your registration information without any liability to you.

Your rights and accessing and modifying your personal data

If you are a Publisher we provide you with tools and account settings to access, correct, delete, or modify the personal data you provided to us and associated with your Account. If you delete your Account and your profile you will still have the option to reactivate your account for 30 days from the date of deactivation, after which it will be permanently deleted.
You have a right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe there is a problem with the way in which we are handing your data.
You have a right to have any incorrect personal data rectified.
You have a right to request that your personal data be erased from our database.
You have a right to request to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used machine-readable format or request that your personal data be transferred to another controller without hindrance.
None of our processing operations constitute automated decision making.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your information. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you via email. By continuing to access or use the Service after such changes become effective you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
